Surface Analysis over Israel using the Integrated Nowcasting through Comprehensive Analysis (INCA) System

The Israel Meteorological Service (www.ims.gov.il) has created a seven year surface analysis over Israel using the Integrated Nowcasting through Comprehensive Analysis (INCA) System developed by the Central Institute for Meteorology and Geodynamics (Zentralanstalt für Meteorologie und Geodynamik -ZAMG) in Austria. Data from weather stations, radar and meteorological satellite are used to get a spatially consistent analysis over Israel.

Temporal Coverage and Resolution:

  • 01/01/2010 to 01/01/2017.
  • Relative humidity, temperature, u and v winds = Hourly
  • Precipitation = 10 minutes, hourly and daily smoothed

Spatial Resolution:

  • Horizontal resolution of 1km.
  • Note that the horizontal grid of the data for the rainmaps is different.

Rainmaps are available in three temporal resolutions:

  • 10 minutes
  • Hourly
  • Daily smoothed

Some tools in Python for reading and plotting the INCA database have also been provided by the IMS.
